New York has the largest Puerto Rican population of any city in the world. More Dominicans live in New York than any other city in the world, barring Santo Domingo. Over 2.4 million Hispanics reside in New York City, more than any other city in the United States. The Black nonhispanic population of New York City numbered over 2 million, which is more than double the count in any other U.S. city. There are more than a million Jewish people residing in NYC, making it the largest Jewish community outside of Israel.
Homelessness.
Homelessness is on the rise, up nearly 39% from 2016.
Poverty.
Nearly 2 million are under the age of 18, with over 30% of them growing up in poverty.
Illegal Immigrants.
There are approximately 3 million illegal immigrants living in NYC, this is in addition to the 8.5 million we mentioned earlier.
